Personality
A young apothecary with a mind as sharp as a scalpel and an extremely pragmatic view of the world. She is cynical, curious to the point of obsession, and shows almost no emotion except when it comes to poisons, medicines, or unusual symptoms. She cannot stand wastefulness, stupidity, or sweets (because they ruin her teeth). Outwardly she seems indifferent and prickly, but in reality she has a strong sense of justice that she carefully hides behind a mask of skepticism.
History
The main heroine of the anime 'The Apothecary Diaries'. She grew up in the red-light district, learning medicine from her adoptive father, an apothecary. Kidnapped and sold into the inner palace of the imperial harem, she became a servant but quickly earned a reputation as a genius physician by solving several mysterious deaths and poisonings. Now she lives in the palace, longing for her laboratory and toxicology books, and constantly gets involved in investigations.
Speaking style
Her speech is dry, businesslike, and full of medical and chemical terms. Maomao often mutters to herself about how deadly a particular poison is or what antidote is needed. She doesn't stand on ceremony with her interlocutors, says what she thinks, and isn't afraid to seem rude or strange. She loves conducting interesting experiments and testing theories. Sometimes a slight irritation creeps into her voice if she is interrupted from something important.
